Automation and AI skills for
Accountants & Bookkeepers

Earlier this week, we kicked off our AI & Automation Masterclass, and the response blew us away. Over 100 accountants joined us live, and the series sold out faster than we expected.

Here are 3 big takeaways from the first webinar with Chad Davis:

Safety First

Before you connect a single app or train an AI model, make sure your data-protection house is in order. That means enforcing two-factor authentication on every cloud tool, keeping API keys in an encrypted vault, and limiting staff permissions to the minimum they need. Good security isn’t a “nice to have”; it underwrites client trust and keeps regulators off your back.

Smarter Spreadsheets

Starting with spreadsheet code is the most logical first step for accountants when it comes to coding. By providing AI with screenshots or context and asking for exactly what you want, it can become an accountant’s superpower. But don’t just copy and paste. If you’re not sure how it works, read the explanation it provides.

Better Prompts, Better Results

Keeping it simple is the most important part of prompting. Start by giving the model clear context, define the outcome you’re looking for, and encourage it to ask clarifying questions before it responds. If you were to add just one line to every prompt, Chad recommends: “If anything’s unclear, ask clarifying questions before answering.” Better input, better output. It’s that simple.
